Health Services in Austintown School District
Austintown school district has something that many school districts do not have and that is Falcon Mobile Med. This is a mobile healthcare unit at the school that will be open before school from 7 a.m.-9 a.m. at the northwest end of Fitch Stadium for the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses and conditions such as sore throats, upper respiratory illnesses, and fever. Parents can bring their sick child to the Mobile Med unit and have them seen by a nurse practitioner of Valley Care Health Systems for $20.00, no insurance billing is offered. Barb Kliner, District Administrator, says, “Through this service, parents can now know if they should send their child to school or keep them home for the day. If the child is unable to be admitted to school, the nurse will send the excuse.” It is also important to note this is an extra health service in addition to the clinic that is already within the school district. |

In the program high school students are first educated about sex with the proper education, and then these trained high school students will participate in a middle school sex education teaching program. Strength/Weaknesses:
-Strengths- Education is easily accessible and no child regardless of behavior or developmental status is left behind. Activities both in, after, or before school promote a holistic environment promoting healthy intellectual lives for the children.
-Weaknesses- If a child does not achieve or is a poor decision maker, the number of opportunities in the Austintown School District for a child may be overwhelming and turn them onto a underachieving anxious path. Despite having some health services at the school, the children have no health promotion/prevention outlet to avoid having to use the health services.
